BioCore
Biocore is a ground-breaking composite material & building methodlogy developed as part of the "Synergy with the Cosmos" project. It's created by cultivating Moso Bamboo and Hemp directly on the construction site, using specialized planter modules. These modules eventually transform into the structural walls of new buildings, incorporating a cycle that spans approximately 3.5 years from planting to construction. This process not only reduces costs but also embodies a commitment to sustainability and community empowerment.
Value: Why Biocore?
Eco-Friendly Development: Biocore addresses environmental concerns in urban development. Its on-site growth of bamboo and hemp reduces the need for resource extraction and diminishes pollution, thereby promoting carbon sequestration and reducing material transportation.
High-Performance Material: The composite combines hempcrete, known for its fire resistance and thermal insulation properties, with bamboo fibers and culms, renowned for their strength. This synergy results in a material that is both eco-friendly and structurally robust.
Innovative Design and Utility: The hempcrete component provides insulation and fire resistance, while the bamboo elements enhance the material's tensile and compressive strength. This makes Biocore ideal for modular construction, potentially enabling rapid assembly of walls and partitions, and even 3D printing on-site for versatile building applications.
Community and Culture Integration: Beyond its material properties, Biocore signifies a deeper connection with community and cultural values. It’s a testament to architectural innovation that goes beyond mere construction; it weaves a narrative of community sustainability, supporting local agriculture, and adapting to the unique character of each site.
